Orbit Whisper

Planet age, weight & space calculators

About

About Orbit Whisper

A small set of space calculators for anyone who has wondered how old they would be on Mars or how long a message takes to reach Jupiter.

What is here

Six tools: your age on other planets, your weight on other planets, light travel times across the Solar System and to the nearest stars, a scale model of the Solar System, an orbital period calculator based on Kepler's third law, and an ISS tracker.

Where the numbers come from

Sizes, gravity, orbits and distances come from NASA's planetary fact sheets; planet positions on a date use JPL's published approximate orbital elements; star distances come from the RECONS list of nearby stars; physical constants come from NIST and the International Astronomical Union. Each page names its sources and shows how its main result was worked out, so you can check it.

How it works

All of the calculations run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored. The one exception is the ISS tracker, which asks the free Where the ISS at? API for the station's position, and only when you press its button. Page views are counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies; the privacy page has the details.

Not an agency site

Orbit Whisper is not affiliated with NASA, JPL or any space agency. It is free to use and shows no ads.
